Encouraging kids to love the valuable wildlife that we share this planet with, to understand their individual habitat needs so that we can help them to survive. Wildlife species are disappearing at an alarming rate because we are destroying their habitats. Do we really understand the importance of native grasses, old growth trees, hollow logs and clean wetlands? Our survival depends on the survival of a healthy natural environment. Our role is to protect our natural resources, and to work with nature into the future. It starts with love for the natural world and native species.

“Susie Peake’s educational activity books for children are based on Australian wildlife and their habitats. They are packed full of illustrations of birds and animals found in specific areas and parks. The Teacher’s Resource, also well illustrated, has been developed to support environmental education in NSW primary schools. It supports the Australian Curriculum in Science and Technology: Living World. Susie believes that teaching young children about wildlife conservation and the Earth’s natural systems can help shape them into aware, responsible citizens of the Earth.

Conserving Earth’s habitat is one of the most important issues facing us today. As the human population increases our demands increase and native species have fewer spaces to call home. More than half of Earth’s surface has been altered due to human activity, resulting in land degradation, habitat destruction, biodiversity losses and an increased rate of species extinctions.

With an understanding of the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the species within them, Susie is hoping that our children will be part of the solution for the future of our planet.”
